Useful Tools
Convert Nepali Unicode text to Preeti font instantly with this free online tool. Preeti remains the most widely used typing font in Nepal — a favourite of writers, government offices, printing presses and publishers — and many desktop publishing workflows still require it. Just paste or type your Unicode text into the "Unicode Text" box below and the Preeti version appears instantly; then copy it and use it in Microsoft Word, Photoshop, InDesign or any other program. The converter also supports other legacy Nepali fonts that share the Preeti layout, including Ganesh, Himal, Everest and Kantipur.
You can download the converted text as a Word file, send it via Gmail or Web WhatsApp, or copy the result in a single click using the "Copy To Clipboard" button. Working in the other direction? Use our Preeti to Unicode converter instead.
Please Note: You will need to have the Preeti font installed on your system to see the converted text in Nepali. Without it, the output box shows Roman characters — the text is still correct and will display as Nepali once pasted into a program with the Preeti font applied.
Unicode is the modern standard for Nepali text, but a large part of Nepal's publishing and office ecosystem still runs on the Preeti font. Converting Unicode back to Preeti is essential when you need to:
| Use case | Recommended format |
|---|---|
| Websites, blogs, social media, email, mobile messaging | Unicode |
| Government online portals and forms | Unicode |
| Printing press manuscripts and typesetting | Preeti |
| Photoshop, PageMaker and legacy design software | Preeti |
| Editing existing office documents typed in Preeti | Preeti |
As a rule of thumb: use Unicode for anything digital that will be read on screens, and Preeti for print and legacy design workflows. Since this tool and our Preeti to Unicode converter work in both directions, you can move freely between the two at any time.
To view and use the converted text, the Preeti font (a free TrueType font) must be installed on your computer. On Windows, download the Preeti TTF file, right-click it and choose "Install". On a Mac, double-click the TTF file and click "Install Font". Once installed, select "Preeti" as the font in Word, Photoshop or any other application and paste the converted text.
